Thank you Wind Machine..You're amazing.

Last week, Europe was celebrating a musical event, in which Simon Cowell would probably be cringing on the side of his seat. Yup the Eurovision I'm talking about. I feel I am the only Asian to be loving this music contest, but at the same time proud to admit I love this show and I do look forward every May to watch this on SBS.

Eurovision is held every year, in whoever has won the previous contest, will be hosting the event the following year.

Whether you are a die hard fan or not, you have to admit it is very entertaining.

It is the "beauty pageant of music in Europe." The talent of all participating performers, competing to be the best. It is when the participating countries just stop quarelling with each other and have a week of celebrating together with music and having a grand ol' time.

Eurovision is the time when the pyrotechniques go overboard and that "wind machine" is dusted off and revived, giving an "extra 10%," as quoted by Sam Pang - who co-hosted with Julia Zemiro on the SBS Eurovision broadcast for Australia.
Eurovision calls for over-the-top clothes, hair, make-up and back-up dancers who didn't make the cut to Britney Spear's gigs.

Eurovision showcases a variety of songs from folk to channelling David Guetta, singing in their countries' respective language, yet sometimes sing in English. (Note: I am still envious they can speak more than one language.)

I've watched Eurovision for 14 years. No matter how corny and crazy it is, I find it very entertaining, regardless how much a song can put you to sleep or make you want to go crab-walking from side to side. Every Eurovisions is different and each hosting country always do a wonderful job hosting and showing around the beautiful things they have to offer (..that I am listing down where to go next...)

A huge thank you to SBS for broadcasting the show as always. Julie Zemiro and Sam Pang broadcasts live from the event and online. The both of you were hilarious and how much I wish I had your job!

This year the contest was held in Baku, Azerbaijan (in which I never knew it was  a country, till I was watching Eurovision 2011 in Düsseldorf, Germany, in which won last year's Eurovision). Yes I had to googleMap it where it was located....Hey! I learnt something new!..See Eurovision is educational in a way.

France, Germany, Italy, Spain, United Kingdom and the host country are automatically in the grand final, then 36 participating countries battle it out for the top 20 and towards the grand final.

There was a carbon copy of Sacha Baron Cohen for the Turkish entrant - Can Bonomo with his human pirate ship....

....then French entrant Anggun with her acrobatic dancers and a hint of the wind machine....
 ....the Russian entrants which I call the "Grandmothers." Thought this song was cheesy, but it goes to show that Russian Grandmothers can dance it up as well!!! They did get a huge ovation...and were 2nd place in the grand final....I think everyone just loved them..I want to give them a hug!

Then there is Jedward, the Irish entrants, whom I swear nicked Lady Gaga's costume and your aunt's water feature....boys..go easy on the red cordial.

Some were amazing and others you just wanted to disinfect your eyes and ears, and at that moment would have to agree that your next door neighbour's cat was better. 

Eurovision brings out all the Mariah Carey's, Beyoncé, Def Leppards, Michael Jacksons, Björks, Britneys and Justins of Europe. 

The famous Engelbert Humperdinck (try saying that when drunk) represented the UK (not sure if they agreed on that)..unfortunately he only got 7 points and was second to last on the tally board.

He was the first to perform in the Grand Finals..Sorry Engel.. I have to admit you nearly made me fall asleep. 

The winner for this year was from Sweden - Loreen's dance song "Euphoria." Which I say reminds me a mixture of Sash, DJ Sammy..ya know the old school dance music in the late 90's/early 2000. 

 with her barefeet, MC Hammer inspired dance crossed with tai chi..the audience screamed louder whenever they announced she was performing in the Semi-finals as well as the Grand finals. A close tie between her and the Grannies from Russia. Congratulations Loreen. A great song!..I want go to dancing now!Now got to wait for next year in Stockholm to watch it and re-live it all over again. Time to pack up the wind machine...for now.

Eurovison!

It's that time again for the Annual Eurovision Song contest. This time its held in Düsseldorf, Germany. To sum it up, there are 20 or so contestants from Europe (hence the EURO-vision) and they sing either in their language or in English, after the respective countries vote who they enjoyed and the most votes of a country wins and the winning country will host the following year.

The first time I watched it was in 1999. I think it was held in Jerusalem that year..just flicking channels and came across the Eurovision. Glued watching the show, because it was funny and catchy cheesy songs in not-so-perfect English TEHEHE.

I don't know how many Australians watch Eurovision, but it seems to be a fan base to Eurovision and thanks to SBS and commentary from Sam Pang and Julie Zemiro, it makes it hilarious with their funny commentary for each contestants.

No matter how bad, cheesy, funny, weird, crazy choreography and bad fashion tastes (some) its still good entertainment. Lots of Pinks, Lady Gagas, Britney Spears, Shakiras, Enriques, Bon Jovi, Bieber, Aguleria, Blue, Aqua and other boy bands..well you name it!

Its the Factor X of Europe..I bet you Simon Cowell is sitting on his sofa with whoever and gasbagging how bad or extremely bad the artists were HAHAHA.

Tomorrow (Sunday 15th is the finals and will see who wins this years Eurovision). Cannot wait.

I'm getting my Eurovision On!

Michael Jackson 29 August 1958 - 25 June 2009

I came home after night shift and yes me being addicted to FACEBOOK, I wanted to check out what other people's up-dated status. So all I see is "RIP Michael Jackson/ You were the legend...will miss you dearly..." And then I decided to check the CourierMail online and the first pic & news is "JACKSON DEAD" I also turned on Nova 106.9 radio station and waiting for talks that he was confirmed dead etc...so yes He past away round 7:25am QLD Time.

Just how I felt when Steve Urwin died..I was just surprised and shocked that this has happened. NOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooo...I really couldn't believe it noooooooooooooooooooooooOOOOOOOOOO!
Yes I can mourn like everyone else from celebrities to the old man in the cardboard box!
No matter how old we are, what ever generation he has been part of our lives.

Despite all the troubles and how eccentric he was, he is an amazing person. Without him there will be no Justin Timberlake, Chris Brown, Usher, Destiny's Child just to name a few. He has had a huge impact in dance and music..well everything he has contributed to.

May they both Rest in peace. They will be truely missed....they are now up there with all the other greats! My condolences to both their family and friends.

And then on the other hand, another celebrity past away from battle of ?Anal Cancer....Charlie's Angels star - Farrah Fawcett. I don't know much about her but from the Charlie Angel's and some guest appearances in shows. Other than that June 26th (25th USA time) will be remembered as the passing of 2 greatest stars.

More rambling of dance bla bla & everything in between.

Oh how i wish it was summer. Right now listening to Rhys' song 'Hot Summer' Yes if you don't remember him, he was the 2nd runner up of Australia's So You Think You Can Dance series 1. He made a music video.

The song's quite catchy and reminds me of a lovely not-so-hot- but lovely-warm- summer, at the pool side, sun baking and sipping on pina coladas! Yes i dream!
Oh how i wish during the day it was summer...morning summer i mean, but not too humid or to the point you have kicked your bedsheets of the bed coz it was just too hot! But no...dawn and dusk are cooler than summer and yes winter is approaching ever so early! yikes! I have to hunt for my winter clothes and pack away my summer clothes (then again i tend to layer my clothes on so i can get warm!)

I really should be asleep now as i have work in the afternoon (Thursday 1230pm) but instead i find myself glued to my laptop monitor, while at the same time listening to itunes. I was planning [in my head] "estudiar espanol" but i failed! Epic Fail....got home after my language class, ate my dinner then watched The Family Guy and then straight on Facebook, You Tube looking at random videos with Ray. I then did a few sit ups and push ups before i resumed looking at Facebook and blogging.

Itching to do a chorey to a few music from Daddy Yankee but where to start. I got tips from my dance friends such as"listen to the song, the beats." It should be a wee bit easy as i have done a chorey before for a dance friend's film. I guess moves come from ideas you see BUT as long as you don't nick someone else' choreography. There are a few who inspire me such as Byran Tanaka, Gigi Torres, Patrick Chen, Lee Daniels, Nick Bass, Sky Hoffman, Marty Kudelka (yes that is Justin Timberlake's Choregrapher) and numerous ppl from Dance2XS or the dance school i go to sometimes Mad Dance House
Back to 'nicking' someone else's work as long as u A) ask them or B) credit it to the people you are teaching your chorey to.
I actually miss my hip hop dancing. It may not be a really girly girly dance (yet depends whether u like the 'skanky' style/ gangsta style/ jazzy hip hop style, dancehall, reggaeton style etc). Or do all styles! That way its versatile.
On the other hand i also like my Flamenco dancing. Powerful, beautiful, sensual and sexy.
On my hand it cost and the effort to travelling from Redcliffe to Brisbane to do one hour and 15mins of dancin'. It really should over-ride my negative thoughts of why i don't dance! I only step foot once in term 2 to do a dance class! In btwn me saving for my holiday in November i should do some classes and keep up my fitness. The more i am listening to Daddy Yankee the more i want do get off my ass and make up a routine. Es en espanol, but it'd be cool to dance to!

Mi espanol es 'mas o menos' creo make mistakes pero it is all in the learning of a language. La idioma - Espanol es facil y dificil. Tambien....over time i prob 'entiendo' espanol. Mi gusta la idioma. Fantastico!

Anyway i best be off to sleep
